Anna Wintour gives us a glimpse while pre-fall wearing Celine's Pre-Fall 2012 collection. Aaand I love it.

In more affordable, yet just as awesome news, Karen Millen's got a great comparable print from their Spring/Summer'12 collection hitting the website any day now. Karen Millen's pieces are always versatile and interchangeable and I'm excited to see they applied the same aesthetic to prints and bold colors this season.

I would love to get my hands on this entire suit! Waaait for it.

Maurizio Cattelan retrospective at the Guggenheim

So glad I caught Maurizio Cattelan's retrospective at the Guggenheim. Retiring at 51 years old from his job as an artist, Cattelan hangs his last exhibit out to dry, literally.

Maurizio Cattelan is not only an artist, he is a bonafide prankster. He insisted his collection of work be hung from the ceiling of the Wright rotunda, like a baby mobile over a sea of art babies (my metaphor). Past ~~pranks~~ shows include:

1) late - first solo exhibit 1989 // Hung a sign on the door that read "Torno subito", meaning "Be back soon" in Italian.

2) working it - Working Is a Bad Job, 1993 Venice // Cattelan leased gallery space for his show to an ad agency whom installed a billboard promoting perfume.

3) creative thievery - Another Fucking Readymade, 1996 Amsterdam // He stole another show's art and tried to pass it off as his own until the cops made him return it. HA!

Although the art chandelier was a sight to see, it did not do his clever art justice. Here's a few photos of his work in its original context:

It's cold and rainy and the weight of layers I have to wear these days is making me shorter. This workout has caused me to think of summer already.

Here's a few looks I daydream of wearing from LA based, Popomomo's Summer'12 collection. Light, easy, and would be in heavy rotation throughout the summer months. Popomomo also uses "sustainable fabrics that are non-detrimental, organic, and made with recycled materials". Kewl.

In the meantime, I can add some heat tech layers to these looks from their Holiday'11 collection...

How I Met Your Style - A peek into our apartment...

Me and my roomie Sam just moved into our new apartment at the end of 2011. Luckily, we were all unpacked in time to do this shoot with How I Met Your Style. Working with Carmen was so fun and I've never posted anything as personal as this! My bedroom and our kitchen is still in the works but it's super comfortable and we love it. It was time for a trim so I went to my favorite salon in Williamsburg, Commune. The decor is always inspiring and they have the best reading material and references. And the staff is super sweet!

I must have been caught up in the decor and relaxing ambience because I lost the struggle with the neverending dilemma of...bangs. I always go to Aki because she always makes me feel like a million bucks with her hairstyling. I fully trust her but I didn't go with my gut this time. I got home and felt like this (watch until the end!).

Saw Jess tweet about this video and watched it as I finished eating a healthy portion of general tso's chicken on my couch :( I mean, she can cross her legs like arms while doing a handstand! While her bf remains asleep, dreaming of her aerial splits.

This inspired me to:

1. Stop eating my chinese leftovers
2. Stop crying about what I'm not physically able to do...yet
3. Wait an hour before any physical activity so I don't get cramps
4. Blog because I need to stretch my fingers too

Today has to go down as one of favorite summer days of 2011. My friends Sandy, Deana, Jess and I have been talking about doing a tie dye party since their experience at the Vans event and we finally did it! We've been craving crabs so we threw in a crab boil too! We set up our tie dying station upstairs and went at it for hours and took food breaks in between. Jeremy kept us full and happy with his awesome dips and sangria! He made buffalo chicken, spinach and artichoke, and a TIRAMISU dip that was t-dye for! I'm hungry all over again.

Tie dying is addicting! After we were all done reviving dryer-stained whites, we all kept looking for more things to dye - luckily none of our dogs are white. And I'm glad I didn't pursue dying my bedsheets...ha! I'll save that for next time.

We're already thinking of our next craft-themed, rooftop gathering. Any ideas? So many photos...and Jess and Sarah have awesome recaps as well! Check it out!

Naturally, in true fatty fashion, after Incubus we searched for a place to eat. We found Totto Ramen and it was amaze. Personally I like it better than Ippudo, yeah I said it! Maybe it was the combination of the short(er) wait time and equally awesome ramen, whatever it was - it made my ever-growing list of good eats.

This candid is entitled, "naks!". LOL

I remember their spicy ramen and cold ramen being exceptionally deelish.

If you follow me on twitter then you probably read Jess, Sandy, and I gushing about seeing Incubus perform on the Late Show on July 11th. Jess won tickets and John, Sandy, and I were her lucky dates. I never had an Incubus poster on my wall or anything but I would not pass up the opportunity to check out Brandon Boyd in an up close, semi-personal, intimate setting! It's almost August already and I'm just getting to this, yikes! It's been a crazy, busy, fun month to say the least.

Adicup jump started July's festivities with it's annual futbol tourney including teams from some of NYC's hotspots like Opening Ceremony, Supreme, Nom de Hooligans (Nom de Guerre), and the Standard, to name a few. The event was held at Chelsea Waterside Park and they kept free BBQ, ice cream, Heineken, and music flowing all day. I'm not a huge sports fanatic but I'm always down to cheer friends on and of course, eat, drink, and get sweaty with friends while Neil spins.

"Until the Violence Stops" Event Recap

This is LONG overdue and I didn't get that many photos, but I really want to share my experience at this event. On June 10th, I attended a screening of Abby Epstein's "Until the Violence Stops", a V-Day production hosted by my friends, Jess and Sana (of the Debs).

It was truly an intimate event with friends and like-minded individuals supporting a movement to end violence against women. Abby Epstein's "Until the Violence Stops", was a captivating and enlightening film documenting the Vagina Monologues in five different parts of the world: Harlem, Ukiah (CA), Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, Philippines, and Kenya. Women who were victims of social and cultural violence courageously share their testimonials of abuse and bond together to break the silence. They opened up and used their pain to create artistic forms of expression to help voice their point of view and inspire women and men alike to come forward and confront relating issues.

In addition to the film, movers and shakers of NYC served as guest speakers sharing their personal experiences and struggles that motivate them to pursue and cultivate their interests and talents. Guest speakers included Julie Powell (Julie & Julia), Hyun Kim (Vibe / Antenna / XXL), Kerin Rose (A-morir), and Ruby Veridiano.

I walked away from this event enlightened and inspired by those who are courageous enough to share their intimate experiences to help educate, motivate, and inspire others to do the same. Pay it forward. :)

Brunch at No.7

As you should already know, I love brunching on the weekends. This past weekend, I caught up with my friends/old school neighbors, Diane, Denise, and Andinh a No.7 in Fort Greene. It's somewhat of a trek to get out there but seeing my faves and the delicious food was well worth a ride on the G.

I have my go-to brunch spots on the weekend so eating somewhere new was definitely refreshing. Diane couldn't have picked a better place because the food was "i'm not sharing" good! You know what I'm talking about. At first glance, the menu didn't look very exciting with egg & cheese, club sandwiches, and scrambled eggs on the list but we were in for a treat!

Diane and I each had Fried Eggs & Nachos w/ pho garnish. Yes, pho garnish: basil, sprouts, lemon and some fried stuff, genius!! It went perfectly with the nachos, so delicious. Don't let the photo fool you, it's a large portion!

I will be returning again and ordering everything! I hope the nachos are still there since I hear they change up the menu from time to time. Oh yeah, more pics of us:

I've heard of this book before, but today I learned Samuel L. Jackson narrates the audio version! Morgan Freeman would have been interesting too. Summer's here and it's time for cooking out and bathing in mosquito repellent, hooray!

My grillmaster friends never half-step when it comes to cooking out. We always have more food then people, better to be safe than...hungry. Our spread includes: grilled chicken, pulled pork tacos, corn salsa and not pictured: grilled corn, cheeseburgers, and delicious blueberry crumble! I was too busy eating to keep taking pics. Naturally, we washed it all down with refreshing mojitos. I <3 summer.

My girl Jess (aka Yoshi) and Susana of The Debs NYC teamed up to host a wonderful event to raise social awareness and support, V-Day, a global movement to end violence against females. The evening will include food, music, wine, and a special screening of, "Until the Violence Stops", a film by Abby Epstein.

Proceeds will go to Girls Write Now, an organization that mentors and instructs at-risk girls from NYC's under-funded public schools, giving them a safe space to share their ideas and cultivate their talents.

I applaud Jess and Sana for sharing their wealth in friends and power of voice and shedding light on such an important issue. There will also be guest speakers sharing their insight and inspiration so join us for an intimate evening and come out and support!

Memorial Day Recap Part I

Despite the forecasted thunderstorm on Monday, Kaitlin and I felt the sunshine and decided to go to the beach. We wanted to glaze our hams and bake our buns so we called for a car and ended up at Coney Island. After getting a few shades darker, we walked the boardwalk and enjoyed some Coney Island treats and greazy goodies. These days I've been craving nothing but seafood, especially shellfish. Jess, Wendy, and I got our Fatty Crab fix this week and we went innnn! Fatty Crab is known for their delicious southeast Asian dishes that are perfect for team eating, my fave sport.

We ordered Lo Si Fun, Chinese broc w/ salted fish, steamed pork buns, and their famous chili dungeness crabs. Jess and I had to put on makeshift bibs since we didn't want to risk splattering the curry from the chili crabs...but that didn't prevent cracking shells and curry at each other. Not ideal for sexy dates but sooo yummy.

A Series of Small Collections by Jessica Naples

I don't consider myself much of a collector of anything specific like buttons or stickers, but I guess a collection can be any group of people or things. So I guess that makes me a collector of friends, photos, clothing, shoes, toys, books, and the list goes on! Our "collections" say a lot about who we are and I love this "Series of Small Collections" by Jessica Naples.

Each collection represents a portrait of a particular person through their belongings. They are private items from the depths of dark drawers, locked suitcases, and hidden boxes. There are pins and needles, purple hearts, pin-up girl matchbooks and Polaroid pictures. Altogether they are time capsules marking different age, interest and personal preference

The first thing I think of when I wake up on the weekend is food. Jess and I planned on getting together so we decided to do what we do best and EAT. Instead of stuffing ourselves with the usual pancakes and eggs, we hit up SmorgasBurg, BK Flea's all-food fair with over 100+ vendors.

The fair was packed by noon and we had to develop a strategy to get in as many lines as we could, we don't play! Our stomachs could only fit: teriyaki dough balls, short ribs, curry chicken, shishito peppers, 'hot mess sticky buns', 'smashed chunky creme fraiche', and people's pop(sicles). After nearly catching food coma, we sat near the water and caught some sun...felt so good after all this rain NY's been having.

I love getting mail, especially packages! I got an awesome package from my girl Brynn at Stussy filled with pieces from their Spring'11 collection as well as a pair of Keds from their recent collab. The shoes have espadrille bottoms and a feminine tapered toe, hence the name of the style, "Tapered Toe Champion". I love red shoes, these are perfect for Spring!

I was also excited to find pieces from their recent capsule collection with Australian label, Perks and Mini! I got a tee and a bathing suit which I'm excited to wear, c'mon warm weather (and beach bod)...I'm waiting for both! Keep an eye out for the rest of the collection, especially the stuff with the polka dots, super kawaii.

Stussy's women's collection has surely grown (up) since I last worked with them. I have since stepped away from heavy graphic tees and progressed into contemporary clothing and I think their trying to do the same. I definitely still feel their so-cal, effortless, endless summer vibe which is nostalgic. Huge thanks to Brynn! XXXO

Last week I caught up with Jazzy and Wendy at South Houston for some comfort food. We were disappointed with the food, the service, and lack of Tabasco! A girl's gotta have have hot sauce with her chicken and waffles, geez! The best thing was their side of spinach, reminds me of Cafe Habana's garlicky, spicy spinach, drool. Needless to say, catching up with the girls was way more comforting than the food. We left feeling the need to redeem ourselves with all the talk of our fave spots on the east and west coast. Despite the food, I always enjoy catching up with the ladies. xoxo

I can't stop listening to Frank Ocean's mixtape, "nostalgia, ULTRA". I would say he's a cross between Miike Snow and Drake. We did our nails too! Finally got my hands on OPI's Shatter thanks to my sister, Ariel. She also had China Glaze's Crackle in black so we compared the two. Top is China Glaze and bottom is OPI, not much difference to me. What do you think??

P.S. We opted not to paint our toes with Shatter or Crackle...not a good look.

I started the week in Boston, stopped by Maine, unexpectedly ended the week in Virginia...aaand came back to NY to start another work week. I got to spend some QT with a few of my favorite ladies this weekend, what a great way to end the week! I went shopping with my cousin Kathy and she was in search for a good shade of red lipstick. After counter hopping, and getting raw, dry lips from all the shades we tried on, she picked up Red Haute in Lancome's Color Design Matte collection. We came back to my house and everyone ended up trying it on....and getting on photobooth.

This was supposed to be "asian pose"...check what my sister came up with (top left corner).

We all decided to give it a try.

Maine Squeeze

Greetings from Maine! I've been traveling all week and am ready to go home. I was in Boston for a few days and didn't take too many pictures but I had such a good time exploring different neighborhoods. I managed to squeeze in some much needed dinner and shopping with some girlfriends, Dani and Jasmine. The ladies took me to one of their fave spots and it was amazing! It's Barcelona-style tapas and we devoured the food before we even thought about taking pics. I was told Toro doesn't normally take reservations and the wait is always long (but well worth it). We were able to snag a table AND it was restaurant week so we went in! A belly full of food, laughs, and a couple drinks later...and they were closing, we practically shut the place down!

Fast forward to Maine, I'm enjoying the scenic route(s), working, and looking for some good lobster. Poor me, the lobster spots don't open until May! I always enjoy my trips but towards the end I always end up scrolling through pics of Lola, here's one of my recent phone faves:

I'm imagining warm weather picnics and bbq's in these babies; paired with anything from shorts, dresses, boyfriend jeans, and military harems - totally versatile and perfect for spring. I saw the caramel sandals ("Janis 4") on their site, but love the alternative red/brown combo I found here.

The collection features a clutch, bucket bag, and satchel in buttery leathers accented with edgy hardware. Strawberry Fields

My favorite salads all have fruits, nuts, and cheese. My favorite type of greens to use is arugula since it's aromatic and kind of bitter - helps balance out the sweetness of the fruits. Yesterday I made a salad with arugula, grapes, blue cheese (usually prefer gorgonzola but blue was all I had), walnuts, and TRUFFLE OIL. Lola must have smelled the cheese because she wouldn't leave me alone!

Dawn and I collaborated on dinner and she made some amazing cornflake encrusted baked chicken. And crepes for dessert! Not pictured because it was too good to stop and take a photo!

Billups & Anthony's Knicks Debut!

Thank you Omar for bringing me to watch the Knicks game this Wednesday! I am one lucky girl to have witnessed Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups' first game with the Knicks. I'm no sports fanatic but most of the sports I watch are in movies so I was happily surprised Omar wanted to take me :). I do love the energy of live sports and I'm no fool so I learned quickly and was attentive the entire time! I caught on to the Melodrama and def noticed people sleepin' on #4, Chauncey Billups! As you know, they won and I learned a few new things about the game...one being I actually enjoyed watching it. I would definitely be down to go again!

Bowery Lane Bicycles

NY got a small dose of warm weather and I instantly started daydreaming of riding around on my bike. I've had my eye on these bikes from Bowery Lane Bicycles for awhile but I'm happy with my vintage Ross for now. Bowery Lane Bicycles is family owned and operated, and the bikes are all handmade with American steel from a factory that derives 30% of its power from solar panels. They have baskets with brewski openers for those picnics at the park. :)

I'm pretty picky when it comes to scents and have been wearing the same perfume for years. I was in Woodley & Bunny getting my haircut and stumbled on these perfume oils by Joya in their apothecary. The packaging caught my eye with its handcrafted ceramic bottles and 22k gold dipped wands, I like! Both Composition No. 1 (white ceramic) and Composition No. 6 (black ceramic) include different combos of citrus, floral, and woodsy notes and balance out so well - not giving you that eye watering headache afterwards. I can't decide which one I like most. They're available at Woodley & Bunny's apothecary or Barney's.

P.S. Check out their Gunpowder Green Tea candle too, LOVE!

Pete Eckert may have lost his sense of sight but he didn't lose his vision. He uses sound, touch, memories, and experiences to conceptualize and create amazing photographs. He explains, "my artwork is a byproduct of my perceptions...someways proof of my progress, learning how to see again using sound." And in case you're wondering, he prints them all in a traditional darkroom, by himself. Geez Louise.

Up until recently I didn't know anyone else who shared my love for the scent of new print and books. I saw my friend Sam's tweet about looking for a candle that has that "new textbook" scent and I didn't feel so alone, haha!
